Japanese Inn Anjuann in Nakamura, Shimanto なごみ宿安住庵
Setting
This small, family-owned inn is nestled atop a hill in Nakamura City, offering stunning views from its rooms. It serves as a peaceful oasis, with the warm and friendly owner ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a perfect stopover for your journey around the Shimanto River in Kochi.
Rooms
The inn features traditional Japanese-style rooms equipped with everything we needed. The rooms are well-lit and offer gorgeous views of the river and Nakamura City.
Onsen
The onsen, though small, is cozy and features a rotenburo (outdoor bath) surrounded by greenery with views of the distant hills.
Food
The evening meal, served kaiseki style, exceeded our expectations with its delicious flavors. The menu also included craft beers and local sake. Breakfast was equally impressive, featuring traditional Japanese dishes.
Activity
Adjacent to the inn is Nakamura’s City Park and Nakamura Castle, a local history museum. We enjoyed a pleasant walk there before dinner. During our visit in sakura season, the park was lively with locals picnicking and barbecuing under the cherry blossoms.
Practical Info
This inn was a serene stopover on our journey from Kochi to Ashizuri in a locale that sees few tourists.. We made a beautiful walk the morning after along the Shimanto River and the Chinkabashi bridges.
We last visited in March 30th 2024.
