Kumo no Ueno Onsen in Yusuhara
Kumo no Ueno Onsen is a day-use hot spring at Michi no Eki Yusuhara, about 2 km from the centre of town in Kochi Prefecture. Its source-fed baths make it a useful stop after a day on the Shikoku Karst or a walk around Yusuhara.
Kengo Kuma’s bridge-shaped Kumo no Ue no Gallery stands beside the onsen. The structure is separate from the baths, but turns the visit into part of Yusuhara’s architecture route; our guide to Kengo Kuma’s architecture in Yusuhara covers the other buildings.
The baths at Kumo no Ueno Onsen
The bathing area is spacious, with a large indoor bath, two open-air baths and a sauna. From the outdoor baths, you look toward the forested mountains around Yusuhara.
The wider complex includes a heated indoor swimming pool, rest area, market and cafeteria. We did not use the pool, but combined onsen-and-pool tickets are available.
When we stayed at Kumo no Ueno Hotel Annex, onsen entry was included: we collected vouchers at reception and used the free shuttle. Towels were provided at the onsen.

About 2 km from central Yusuhara. A free shuttle runs between the onsen and Kumo no Ueno Hotel Annex; parking is available.
- Hours
Usually Tuesday 15:00–22:00 and Wednesday–Sunday 11:30–22:00, with last entry at 21:30. Closed Monday; holiday and winter hours differ, so check the official site before going.
- Admission
For visitors from outside Yusuhara: adults ¥700 and children ¥350. A combined onsen-and-pool ticket costs ¥1,200 for adults and ¥600 for children.

Indoor and open-air baths, whirlpool bath, jacuzzi, sauna, rotating medicated bath, rest area, heated indoor pool, market and cafeteria.
